GOTCHA4LIFE ADVISORY BOARD
Gus Worland has made up his advisory board with a set of friends he loves and trusts - in some cases for more than four decades. He knows they will have his back and advise and support him as the Foundation grows and delivers on his mission to save lives by improving the mental health of boys and men, along with their families and communities.
Gus is so proud to have them in his team and already acknowledges and admires their dedication to the Gotcha4Life mission. He sees their commitment, advice and contribution as truly extraordinary. Their individual skill sets, and experience allow him to make decisions with real focus and passion for significantly and seriously impacting men’s mental health for the better.
“We are on a mission to save lives, and our Board is in place to keep us on point, on track and always on our toes.” - Gus Worland
GOTCHA4LIFE BOARD AIMS TO:
Work with a select group of independent professionals who provide the best advice and support to the foundation and understand the very sensitive environment we operate in. This is a group of people with shared commitments to the development of our Foundation and who display unique levels of trust and respect that go far beyond the tests of ordinary relationships. These are people with true wisdom and courage who can and will ‘say it as it is’
Provide non-binding strategic advice to the organisation which is informal in nature
Give greater flexibility regarding how the Foundation is structured and managed
Our Board is not regulated under the Corporations Act or corporate governance codes. Our Board will not make decisions as a formal board might. However, calling a Board that has a governance function an ‘Advisory Board’ will not preclude its members from their legal duties.
This Board will enable the Foundation to have access to an independent view and ‘safe places’ in order to discuss Foundation issues of major significance. This role will evolve over time, but it is useful to document a charter to provide some direction for its members
We aim to provide independent sources of information and advice on strategic issues and any risks confronting the Foundation
We aim to develop a wide understanding of the Foundation and provide “wise counsel” on any issues raised by the directors
The Board will provide the directors with insights and ideas which can only come with distance from the day-to-day operations
We want to encourage and support the exploration of new ideas and develop a governance framework that enables continued growth, whilst not stifling the original spirit and vision of the founders
The Board will monitor ongoing business performance and challenge the directors to consider options for improving the Foundation
We will draw on the skills and knowledge of directors/advisors who have practical experience in growing a foundation and enhance the Foundation’s reputation and credibility
